This course introduces students to the law governing the main forms of business organization in Canada: partnerships and corporations.
Students will learn how Canadian business organizations law incentivizes investment in business, protects investors from self-interested actions by management, and ensures respect for the interests of people who interact with business organizations, like employees, creditors, local communities, and the public.

The course focusses on how these goals are implemented in national and provincial law. Canadian business organizations law is useful to study because it has a distinctive approach that reflects both American and British influences.
Learning about Canadian law can help students to better understand business organizations laws in other jurisdictions.
